We are playing a leading role in the UK’s first fully independent trade association representing surveyors & analysts and companies involved in asbestos consultancy, inspection & testing.
The National Organisation of Asbestos Consultants (NORAC) was established in 2011, our Gary Mckendrick has been an active member since its inception. And since August 2017 he has been on the NORAC Management Committee.
NORAC’s goal is to improve technical knowledge in all aspects of asbestos consultancy, providing a platform to share knowledge and best practice and a voice at industry and government level.
The voice of NORAC is becoming louder by the day as we continue to speak up and we now have representation on the UKAS technical committee and the Health and Safety Executive’s asbestos liaison group, whilst also working closely with other independent organisations in the sector.
NORAC has also been working with BOHS, Faculty of Asbestos Assessment and Management (FAAM) and the Asbestos Control and Abatement Division (ACAD) to launch a new skills certification card for asbestos professionals. These cards carry the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) logo and will provide evidence that asbestos professionals working on construction sites have the required training and qualifications for the type of work they are carrying out. These cards launched on 19th April 2019 and as well as the traditional card to carry, they also come as a ‘virtual card’ via a free app called Vircarda; which links to your downloadable asbestos and H&S certificates.
Gary says “I’m very proud to serve on the NORAC Management Committee; we have a fine selection of people who share the same vision and purpose to set the bar higher and give support and guidance to our fellow professionals. We have already achieved a lot and it’s exciting to see our actions bring new and better results’
